Another series of white ball cricket has come to an end. SL needed some good practice ahead of the T20 WC later this year and they really had a tough series. Zimbabwe gave them a tough work out. They came close in the first T20I and managed to win the second. But SL showed their class today at home and wrapped up the game and the series quite easily. Hasaranga and his men rolled over Zimbabwe for 82 and then the top-order of the Lankan team made short work of the chase. That's it from the series. Cricket around the globe continues and we have covered all the bases for you. Switch tabs and follow some SA20 action. By the way, we had a decent day at the Fantasy as well. We had Hasaranga and Theekshana as C/VC choices! Did you as well?
Wanindu Hasaranga: We did a really good job. We were talking about fielding and batting. The bowlers and fielders did a really good job. In the second game, we saw dew coming in and then we decided we should chase. As a captain, I am a little concerned about fielding and top-order batting.
Sikandar Raza: 52 after 6 and then 82 all-out, there is no excuse. You can't teach courage. We have been either really good and really poor. Have dealt in extremes. When we have been bad, we have been very poor. We have managed to entertain the crowd amidst that as well. I am very big on how we train. A lot of the work is done behind closed doors. We aren't training as much professionally as much we should do. Me, Ervine and Williams had to most overs tonight but that didn't happen. Our seamers, credit to them. They bowled exceptionally on the entire tour.
Angelo Mathews, Player of the Series: Huge occasion for me. I don't think my mum and dad were present watching me play. Dedicate this to them. Was trying to keep fit. Feeling good. I am happy that I was able to contribute to the team. Depending on the surfaces we play, my role will change. My job was to get us a good target in the second T20I. I have bowled a few overs at the death. Zimbabwe have been excellent. They played some excellent cricket. Made us work hard.
Wanindu Hasaranga is the Player of the Match:
21:10 Local Time, 15:40 GMT, 21:10 IST: Lanka win in style. They have made short work of this target. 83 was never going to threaten the hosts and the openers batter with the right intent. Nissanka and Mendis added 64 for the opening wicket and that almost killed off the chase. Hasaranga and the bowlers had set up the series clinching win earlier with some incisive bowling. Zimbabwe came in with a lot of confidence but batted very poorly to give a poor account of themselves. Sri Lanka after taking the ODI series 2-0 have managed to win this series 2-1.
Raza to Nissanka, SIX, well doled up delivery, Nissanka sits down and slams the slog sweep to send it over deep mid. Maximum hit and maximum result for the hosts. They win by 9 wickets and take the series 2-1
