That's it from this one. We will see you for the next game. Good night!
Ashgar Stanikzai, Afghanistan captain: We are happy that we have won, and look forward to continue winning. We trusted Mujeeb and we are happy that he performed well. Middle order collapsed for us, but we are happy someone like Rashid rescued us at the end and took us through till the 50th over.
Porterfield (2/2): We were quite good with the ball, need to work on a few things with the bat. The conditions were tough and we will look to correct out problems and come back strong in the next game.
Willaim Porterfield, Ireland Captain(1/2): Really good first half for us, got a few quick top-order wickets and in general we're happy with our first innings. The young lad (Mujeeb) bowled very well on his debut. The difference in the game was our first ten overs. We were 3-4 down and it is quite hard to come back from that. About Mujeeb, there were a few new things we saw and we were clueless and we are looking forward to working him out in the coming two days (before the next match).
Man of the match: Mujeeb's precocious performance with the ball (10-2-24-4) has won him the coveted prize, as he edges out Rashid Khan who must have been a close second for his all-round contribution. I am sure Rashid would be happy with the fact that Mujeeb has been rewarded, which should be a huge boost in confidence for the young prodigy going forward.
Some notable individual performances include the teenaged Mujeeb, who ripped through the top-order to take 4 for 24 off his 10, and Rashid Khan, the seasoned campaigner who complimented him well. The Irish were completely at sea against spin, and will need to work on that if they are to succeed at the Test level. Rashid Khan was great with the bat too, coming in at a difficult position at 122-6 and being dismissed off the last ball, ensuring that his team played out the 50 overs.
Clinical Afghanistan: That encapsulates an absolutely spiffing day in the field for Afghanistan who have been clinical with their spin on a dry surface, where the ball was gripping, and an appalling batting display by the Irish. They have ripped through this batting line-up and the celebrations are evident in the Sharjah stadium for the Afghan fans! They have been absolutely ruthless out there today and played like a team that maintains the intensity throughout, even if the match has been won half-way through the second innings. They have well and truly arrived into the international arena.
Rashid Khan to Murtagh, out Caught by Rahmat!! Full on middle, Murtagh goes for the lofted drive over mid-on on but such has been the luck of the Irish today, that he lobs it into the hands of mid-on. He doesn't move an inch. Murtagh c Rahmat b Rashid Khan 0(5)
Rashid Khan to Murtagh, THATS OUT!! Caught!!
Rashid Khan to Stuart Poynter, leg byes, 1 run, back of a length on middle, Stuart Poynter goes for the sweep, gloves it and lobs it to short fine leg. 100 up for the Irish, but at what cost? 9 wickets!

Rashid Khan to Stuart Poynter, FOUR, good length delivery, Stuart Poynter premeditates the reverse sweep and nails it as it races away to the backward point fence for four
