West Indies - 1 | India - 1. One would have anticipated India will win this ODI series by a 3-0 margin, but that isn't going to be the case as West Indies have bounced back in style. Hardik Pandya mentioned at the toss that Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli will probably return for the third ODI, so you can expect a much better performance from India. The action now moves to Trinidad where the third ODI will be played, so make sure to join us on 1st August for our live coverage of the series decider. For now, it's a goodbye from our side!! Good night and take care!
Shai Hope | Player of the Match: I am happy, when I get a fifty, when I get a hundred and when the team wins. You got to find ways to score quickly on that wicket, especially against a quality bowling attack like India. Very satisfied. We got one win, got to win the next game to take the series. The guys are going to come hard again. We keep speaking about the attitude, and today we displayed that. We need to replicate that and need to be more consistent with the bat and ball. Complete performance I must say, the surface was challenging, the bowlers and batters did well. We want to be on the winning side and if we tick all the boxes, I am pretty sure we can achieve that.
Hardik Pandya | India captain: We didn't bat in the way we were supposed to. The wicket got much better than the first innings. Disappointing, but got to learn many more things. The way the openers batted, the way Kishan batted, it's important for Indian cricket. Thakur kept our hopes alive. Hope batted well, they held their nerves and got over the line. I have to bowl more overs to get ready for the World Cup. Being a turtle at the moment, not a rabbit. Hoping everything goes well during the World Cup. They will be tested, we will be tested now that the series stands 1-1. The next game will be exciting for the viewers as well as the players.
First win for West Indies in the last ten ODIs against India.
In reply, the West Indian openers got them off to a good start, and it was Mayers who particulary went hard against the pacers in the powerplay. In his breezy cameo of 36, Mayers hit a couple of sixes and four boundaries and had a 50-run stand with King. However, Shardul Thakur was introduced into the attack thereafter and he got rid of both the openers in the same over. West Indies lost a few wickets in quick succession thereafter, but Hope and Carty played watchfully and took control against the spinners. Hope played a captain's knock, while Carty supported him well from the other end as they chased down the target without further hiccups and quite comprehensively in the end. There were also a couple of rain interruptions in the game, else this match have gotten over much earlier. Stay around for the presentations..
17:03 Local Time, 21:03 GMT, 02:33 IST: West Indies level the series, which makes the third ODI much more interesting than it would've been otherwise. The things India have tried in this ODI series haven't appeared very convincing to be honest. They chased down 114 in the first ODI where their bowling looked top-notch, but their batters have struggled and the experiments have made little sense in the couple of ODIs. Shai Hope elected to bowl first after winning the toss, and although the Indian openers had a fine partnership, the West Indian bowlers bounced back well to take the remaining 9 wickets only for 90-odd runs. Shepherd and Motie claimed three wickets each, while Alzarri Joseph picked two wickets as India were bowled out for a paltry total of 181.
Hardik Pandya to Keacy Carty, FOUR Carty hits the winning runs! Was hoping for a fifty, but this lands just before the boundary cushions. Was a shortish delivery and the batter thumped it towards deep extra cover to draw curtains to the game. Handshakes between the players as they start walking back to the pavilion...
Hardik Pandya to Keacy Carty, FOUR, cheeky shot! Short of a length on off and the batter opens the bat face and gets an educated outside edge through the empty slip cordon
Hardik Pandya to Keacy Carty, no run, in the air, but safe! Goes for a pull against this short ball and miscues it towards mid-on. Kuldeep dives forward to take it, but fails to latch on to the catch
Hardik Pandya to Shai Hope, 1 run, worked to third man by Shai Hope for a single
