That concludes our coverage of this game. England go 2-0 in the series and New Zealand have got some homework to do if they are to come back and challenge England in the next one. Right, this is Anurag bidding goodbye on behalf of Nikhil and Venkatesh.
Jos Buttler | England captain: Brilliant performance, thought we were excellent at Durham and to come down here and play like this was excellent. Always special to see guys make debuts. Another journey in international cricket. Nice from Atkinson to come out and bowl like he did. He’s been on an upward curve recently so it was important to get him into the international setup quickly. Guys like Moeen, Jacks and Livingstone offer so much with both bat and ball. We know what a class player Brook is, credit goes to him as there’s a lot of noise around but he hasn’t let it affect him.
Tim Southee | New Zealand captain: Not ideal but those margins can be highlighted in this format. We weren’t great with the ball and that makes it harder for the batters to come and chase it down. I think we started pretty well with the ball but Brook and Bairstow took the momentum away from us and we couldn’t get back in. The way Adam Milne bowled was exceptional, he showed the rest of us what was working. Number of the guys are still reasonably young, tough when you ask the batters to try and chase such a total down. Hopefully we can come back strong in a couple of days.
Jonny Bairstow | Player of the match: Great team performance tonight. To post that total and to defend it was a great effort. Decent ball at Durham, happens when you bat at the top of the order. Got a start here and got a lot easier once I settled in. Partnership between myself and Brook turned out to be a match-winner. We haven’t batted much together but it was great to bat with him. He’s been batting really well. Didn’t quite get loads of the strike in the end, best give it to the guys coming in when they can strike them like that. Hopefully another opportunity will come along (to score a hundred) and I can become the third one (to score a hundred in all three formats for England). Gus Atkinson has raw pace, its scary for other teams. A performance like that on debut will give him a lot of confidence. We’re sure that this is the first of many caps for him.
20:51 Local Time, 19:51 GMT, 01:21 IST: What a performance that was from England, the Kiwis were no match for them tonight! After winning the toss and electing to bat first, they posted a mammoth total thanks to big fifties from Jonny Bairstow and Harry Brook. They batted with fluency and Tim Southee was left searching for answers as England nearly breached 200. The chase never took off either for New Zealand. It was as if they'd done their shoelaces wrong and fell flat on their face after taking their very first step. They lost Allen and Conway in the first two overs and despite a bit of a recovery, they were already on a dangerous slippery slope and they couldn't cling on for much longer. Tim Siefert played some eye-catching shots but wickets kept tumbling and they couldn't string together any partnership. The scoreboard pressure was telling as a lot of Kiwi batters fell to false strokes. Gus Atkinson was mighty impressive on debut as he recorded figures of 4-20 from just 2.5 overs. Stick around for the presentations.
Gus Atkinson to Ferguson, out Bowled!! Got him first ball! England waste no time in running through New Zealand's lower order! Impressive performance from Gus Atkinson on debut. He goes full, fast and straight on middle, Ferguson was backing away looking to open up the off-side but he couldn't lay bat on this. It crashed into the base of middle and that's the end of that. Gus Atkinson to Ferguson, THATS OUT!! Bowled!!
Lockie Ferguson, right handed bat, comes to the crease
Gus Atkinson to Southee, out Lbw!! England are in a hurry to get this done it seems! Length delivery on off-stump, Southee shuffled a long way across his stumps looking to help it on its way, nipped back in just a touch and hit him on the back leg as he was front-on, hit him just under the knee-roll and that always looked out unless he got bat on it. He didn't and hawkeye returned with three-reds! Southee lbw b Gus Atkinson 8(3) [6s-1]
Gus Atkinson to Southee, THATS OUT!! Lbw!!
New Zealand review. Given out LBW on field and it looked pretty out.
Gus Atkinson to Southee, SIX, he's got hold of this one though! Atkinson goes just a shade fuller and it allows Southee to heave that away over deep mid-wicket, easier to judge the bounce when it's fuller
Gus Atkinson to Southee, 2 runs, lands into the vacant areas! Short of a length on off-stump, Southee looks to pull and is rushed by the pace, mistimes it and it goes high, lands in the gap at cow corner
Tim Southee, right handed bat, comes to the crease
Gus Atkinson to Seifert, out Caught by Buttler!! They're folding like a pack of cards now! This is another good catch, skipper this time. Hard length delivery just outside off, it just took off of a length and got big on Seifert as he looked to pull. It took the top-edge and went high into the night sky. Buttler called for it and had to adjust late and plunge forward to hold on. Seifert c Buttler b Gus Atkinson 39(31) [4s-4]
Gus Atkinson to Seifert, THATS OUT!! Caught!!
Ish Sodhi, right handed bat, comes to the crease
Gus Atkinson [2.0-0-12-1] is back into the attack

Adil Rashid to Milne, out Caught by Moeen Ali!! There goes another! Adil Rashid has his second wicket and he's happy! Floated up full outside off, Milne leaned in to play a reverse-sweep and it just went straight to Moeen Ali at first slip off the splice. Great catch, he kept his eyes on it throughout and held on to a sharp chance. Milne c Moeen Ali b Adil Rashid 2(3)
