All to play for at Trent Bridge then in a couple of days' time. New Zealand keep the series alive with this win and will undoubtedly be fighting hard to draw the series. After two outstanding performance, England faltered today and they'll be looking to rectify that come Tuesday. Right, that's it from us. This is Anurag signing off on behalf of Pradeep and Mukesh. Take care and goodbye.
Tim Southee | New Zealand captain: We asked to be better in all three areas and we played in a style expected of us. We weren’t able to get partnerships earlier but today was great with Phillips and Allen. We bowled okay in the powerplay, important to start well and we got a few wickets. We’re going to rotate our pace bowlers with the nature of the series, quick turnaround but nice to see them coming in and performing straightaway.
Jos Buttler | England captain: Credit to New Zealand, they really outplayed us. Good toss to win and we let them get away with too many. Good partnership between Allen and Phillips, they took the game away from us. Needed a fast start chasing that score, they bowled well and we couldn’t get any partnerships. Didn’t use Moeen with two right-handers out there, was a hard match-up for him. Probably need to find a way to get him into the game a bit more. Happy for Gus Atkinson, he’s settling into the team nicely.
Finn Allen | Player of the Match: The way they started with the ball, was tough for us to get away. But we batted through the middle and were able to take it deep. Nice to get a good performance away and get a win for the team. Have been working on holding my shape a bit more and having a method. I didn’t really know what a good score would be, just wanted to react and play my shots.
17:49 Local Time, 16:49 GMT, 22:19 IST: If it was England dominating New Zealand in the first two games, well, it was a complete role-reversal today as the visitors handed England a sound drubbing. A great show of resilience and character from New Zealand as they bounce back strong and keep the series alive with a 74-run win here at Edgbaston. After electing to bat first, New Zealand posted a mammoth 202 on the back of 86 from Finn Allen and 69 from Glenn Phillips. When it came to the chase, England were a no-show. They kept losing wickets right throughout and there weren't even signs of a partnership. Jos Buttler looked in good touch and had some fun as he scored a 26-ball 40 but that being the top-score was not quite nearly enough. Only 4 batters got into double figures and that sums up England's day with the bat. They ended up getting bowled out in the 19th over as the Kiwis rounded out a clinical performance. Jamieson and Sodhi picked up 3-a-piece while Southee accounted for 2 more. Stick around, we'll have the presentations shortly.
Southee to Adil Rashid, out Caught by Seifert!! Keeper calls for it and takes it! Full and just outside off, Rashid looked to hack across the line and got a big top-edge that went straight up, Seifert forward and to his left towards forward short leg, settled under it and took it safely. Big win for New Zealand. Adil Rashid c Seifert b Southee 8(8)
