That concludes the first of the five ODIs between these two teams. Pakistan are looking good, Zimbabwe need to up their game. The teams will return on July 16 to play the second ODI at this venue. Join us at 09:15 local time for all the action. Until then, goodbye!
Sarfraz Ahmed - Pakistan captain: "The captain is happy if the team is performing well. Credit goes to both the opening batsmen. We told them to go easy in the first ten overs. Very pleased with the bowlers' show. Every match is important for us, we will take one game at a time."
Imam-ul-Haq - Man of the Match: "It's a great feeling to return to the side. We didn't have a great series in New Zealand, but there was a four month gap and I worked hard in that period. The Test series gave me a lot of confidence and I want to thank the management and the seniors for backing the youngsters. The atmosphere is so good that you really want to perform for this team. We knew if we bat sensibly up front, we will do well. They bowled well in the first ten overs. Once we got set, we were able to score freely. I want to thank my parents, they prayed a lot for me (to perform well). One-day cricket demands that you have to bat through if you are set, at least about 40-45 overs."
Hamilton Masakadza - Zimbabwe captain: "I thought we bowled really well and at the death as well, but we lost it in the middle. Anything around 300 is chasable in Bulawayo, but we had too many soft dismissals. Murray did really well and there is a lot of promise there. We have to back ourselves and comeback stronger with four more games to go."
A walk in the park for Pakistan then. A win by 201 runs and Zimbabwe need to find answers. They just cannot afford to play this badly, need to show some fight. 309 was always going to be difficult against a high quality bowling line-up. More than the loss, the lack of application is what the Zimbabwe think tank need to worry about. Only three batsmen crossed 20. The seamers set it up for the visitors, before Shadab Khan, despite not being at his best today, cleaned up the lower-order. This is also Pakistan's first ODI win in 2018.
