A young West Indian team has managed to do something that other Test stalwarts have failed to achieve in the recent past. A 2-0 series win. Underdog stories always make the headlines and this will one remain on the centre spread for some time to come. Mayers, Bonner, Cornwall, they all came to the party in typical calypso style when their team needed them. They played in an unrestrained manner and that freedom provided results. They shunned their inhibitions and unchained every negativity that came their way. A massive win and a tale for the history book of cricket to underline in golden letters. I hope the story tellers here have managed to keep you glued. Untilnext time, this is Kumar Abhisekh Das wishing you Happy Valentines Day on behalfof Raju Peethala, Rishi Roy and Venky! May the LOVE for Test cricket remain eternal!
Kraigg Brathwaite, Winning skipper: I would say this is a team effort. The One day team didn't do well. But we had some plans and came on top. I know my skill with the ball. Just wanted to keep it tight. Coming over here with all the protocols in place, it is huge. Very thankful for this opportunity. Am very proud of the boys. It means everything back home. The fans will be proud. We just stuck to our plans and proved them wrong. I know what Mayers can give us. I have known him from primary school. Moseley will also give us runs soon.
Nkrumah Bonner, Man of the Series: Actually the conditions are similar. The only difference might be that it keeps a little lower here. I talked to senior guys and they told me to occupy the crease for as long as I could. I took my time in the middle and remained patient.
Rahkeem Cornwall, Man of the Match: It was a good performance. The whole team had great energy from day 1. The team management backed us as well. Once the conditions allow you to spin it, I backed myself to spin it. You need to be patient and bowl consistently. I practice hard in the mornings with my slip catching. I just back myself that when the ball comes to me, I will catch it.
Mominul Haque, losing captain: When you lose, it is always disappointing. We did have some positives. Mehidy was exceptional with the bat and the ball. Taijul bowled really well. Tamim and Mushfiqur got fifties as well. When Tamim was batting, we thought we will easily win it. But we lost wickets in the middle period and then Mehidy tried hard but fell short. Shakib gives us two options. So, one player wouldn't have been able to fill his big boots.
The presentations have started now.
Jyotiraditya Sharma: Need matches like these to keep Test cricket alive
Mithu: Salute to Cornwall.. He has bowled 50 percent of the Windies' overs alone and that too so many long spells.. Take a bow man!!!!!!!
But for the Windies, hope their Test stocks see a rise from here on. Windies all over the world would rejoice this massive win as the Bangladeshis have been a tough cookie at home in the recent past. And to quote the statistics, this is only the second loss for Bangladesh at Dhaka since August 2015. Phenomenal series indeed. A double hundred in a run chase on the final day. A close chase in the second contest. It has been dramatic all the way through and both the results fell in favour of the braver team. Bangladesh's timidity on so many occasions didn't help them wrestle control of the series. First the Aus-Ind Test series and now this, Test cricket indeed has been thrill-a-minute ride of late.
17:06 Local Time, 11:06 GMT, 16:36 IST: Some fascinating scenes. A bunch of greenhorns were never given any chance before the series started. But just see how they have responded. Bangladesh have been stunned again. Windies take the series 2-0. If it was Mayers in the first Test, Cornwall has had the say in this Test. Bowled 30 overs, almost unchanged and bargained four wickets to give his team a memorable win. This is huge if you ask me. West Indies also didn't have their regular skipper playing as well and still have scripted history. Just a couple of hours back when Tamim was going great guns, we all thought this chase would be easy. But the game turned on its head as wickets kept tumbling one after the other. Bangladesh were outbatted in the first Test and have been outbowled in this one. A lot of food for thought for them and so much to discuss on the drawing board.
Shaik Riyaazuddin: West Indies have given more extras than Shanto's total runs in this series.
Warrican to Mehidy Hasan, out Caught by Cornwall!! Wow! This is serene for the Windies team. Mehidy Hasan stands stunned. He was a little squared up, got the edge and the Big Man, at slip, plucked out a blinder taking it low to his right. The Windies camp is thrillled. They win the series 2-0. Mehidy Hasan has taken Cornwall for some special punishment in the last two overs. He must have tired fingers as well having bowled almost unchanged.
Porosh: Mehedy should get a chance in the top 4
